2010 Olympic Games: Its a Wrap
April 1st, 2010

Rocky Mountain completed our final Olympic and Paralympic events on March 21. Thus came to an end 4 years of preparation and two months of intense work on Olympic events. All told we had over 80 technicians working on venues throughout Whistler and Vancouver. It was an amazing opportunity for all of us and we feel privileged to have been part of this historic event.

We thank those who put their faith in us; The Vancouver Organizing Committee, Panasonic, ProCon Germany, The Canadian Olympic Committee, CTV/ MuchMusic, The Resort Municipality of Whistler, The London Organizing Committee for 2012 and many others, who chose us as their supplier. Thank you for the opportunity.

The Olympic Clock is Ticking Loudly
October 30th, 2009

The Olympic Torch : has landed in Victoria and Rocky Mountain is there on the lawn of the Legislative Buildings with a full production package including a Stageline SL320, Kudo Line Array and lighting for the day long celebration.

Cultural Olympiad: Rocky Mountain will be supplying full production for these events between January and March of 2010 at the Orpheum and Queen Elizabeth Theatres in Vancouver.

Whistler Live!: As Whistler Village comes alive for 2010, Rocky Mountain will be the technical and production supplier for Whistler Live! in multiple sites throughout the Village. Installation begins in January and production runs though to the end of The Paralympics.

Panasonic Competition Mountain Venues: Working with Procon out of Germany we will be supplying audio systems and technical support on all the mountain Olympic Venues for Panasonic of Japan. Installation of speakers began in October.

Richmond O Zone Installation
March 4th, 2009

Rocky Mountain has been awarded the contract to install an audio system for the Minoru Oval in Richmond. This is an outdoor installation that will cover the field of play and grandstand areas. The job is slated to complete early April 2009. This will area is part of the Richmond O Zone Olympic Celebration Live Site in 2010.

Sport Events and Clocks Counting Down
February 17th, 2009

The Rocky Team had quite a week with Olympic and other related events.

1. Sporting Test Events at The Sliding Centre in Whistler, FIS Freestyle on Cypress and FIS World Cup Snowboard on Cypress. All were full Audio and Video production with LED Walls.

2. 2010 Torch Unveiling in Whistler and a full concert stage with LED Wall for the week in Village Square.

3. One Year Countdown Concert with Sarah McLachlan at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.

4. Canadian Snowboard Federation Park Royal Rail Jam. Full video wall, concert stage and a lit ramp for snowboard competition on the roof of Park Royal Mall, West Vancouver.

5. Audio for Diana Krall, Elton John, James Taylor at the Hotel Vancouver for the VGH Foundation.

International Skating Test Event for Panasonic

We have been chosen by Panasonic Japan to supply a turnkey Audio System for the Four Continent Figure Skating Tournament Feb 2-8 2009 at Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver.

Rocky Adds New Video Gear

We have added a number of new elements to our video inventory. These include new Grass Valley Indigo Video Mixers, Grass Valley HD Recorders, Evertz Multi Display Units and the 32 inch monitors to match.

We recently put them to work at the 2009 Sport Test Events at the Whistler Olympic Park for the Nordic and Ski Jump competition.They will also be working at the Whistler Sliding Centre for the Luge and Bobsled and on Cypress Mountain for the FIS Freestyle event in Feb.

These along with our new Riedel Communications system make for a highly versatile and adaptable video package(s).

Rocky Acquires Riedel Communication System
January 6th, 2009

We have just taken delivery of a Riedel Digital Show Communication System. This state of the art comm. system operates on both fiber optics and traditional copper cable. With it we have the ability to design and manipulate communications to meet various show needs. The key advantage of Riedel’s system is that it operates on a digital matrix that allows point-to-point intercom user assignments. These assignments can be fully customized so the event producer has full control over who talks to whom and what groups or individuals are linked. Fiber interconnection allows individual comm groups to be separated by several kilometers. The Riedel System easily integrates analogue comm systems, wireless headsets and telephone interface putting all of your communication requirements under one control system. This is the best there is.

Olympic Skating Oval in Richmond

Rocky Mountain has installed the PA system for public areas in this new Olympic venue. We are also installing audio, video and control for the special events rooms and supplying portable audio and video equipment for use throughout the facility.
